Doors Open August 2017!

December 6th, 2016 by University Cottages |

Innovation and value characterize the more than 5,500 homes built in the past two decades by Michael Nieri, owner and president of Great Southern Homes. So it’s no surprise that University Cottages, his most recent undertaking, brings a fresh approach to affordable student housing at Clemson University, Nieri’s beloved alma mater.

Explains project manager Brad Harper, “At University Cottages, Michael is not only introducing a new residential concept. He’s also found an opportunity to give back to a community he loves.” Many members of the University Cottages team, including Harper, are Clemson alums. The residences will be locally owned and operated.

University Cottages offers students fine accommodations and generous amenities without the high-rise construction and high price associated with other upmarket rentals. Once complete, University Cottages will include 58 four-bedroom, four-bath cottages in five locations on and near the Clemson campus. Each cottage features a screened porch, large gathering area, breakfast-in kitchen and traditional dining room. Plus, convenience features like in-home washer and dryer and granite countertops. All University Cottages are smart-wired and pet friendly.

Club creates community

One of the most appealing aspects of life at University Cottages is the innovative club concept. All residents receive a free membership to the Cottage Club, which gives them access to amenities and facilities at any other location.

Harper explains, “We know that even once they’ve moved beyond dorm life, students seek community. So if a resident of one of our neighborhoods wishes to use the fitness center, coffee shop or volleyball court at another location, he or she is welcome to do so.” Other amenities will include party facilities, outdoor living/fire pit spaces and private beaches.

The first eight-unit University Cottages community, Ingels Crossing, will be available for fall 2017 occupancy. And Cross Creek, located at [add location], will open in early spring 2017.

Harper and the University Cottages team are eager to introduce Clemson students, and their parents, to a first-of-its-kind residential experience. “Though the project is different from the single family homes we’re known for across the state, University Cottages reflects the same commitment to quality, value, family ownership and local management,” Harper adds.
